Adelaide's $90 million Eastwood Private Hospital now open
Adelaide’s Eastwood Private Hospital is now open, offering a dedicated short-stay facility for surgical patients across orthopaedics, ophthalmology, plastics and general surgery and with 51 inpatient beds and six operating theatres, it is expected to treat more than 7000 patients each year.
The hospital is designed for day and short-stay surgery and includes a suite of digital and robotic systems to support surgical planning and delivery, as well as bedside patient monitoring and hospital workflow. AI-assisted surgical navigation, electronic health records and HEPA-filtered air circulation systems in patient areas are among the technologies in use.
Private rooms, an on-site café and almost 300 car parks — to support ease of access for patients, visitors and staff — are also features of the hospital, with a dedicated patient drop-off zone located near the main entrance. In addition to surgical services, on-site access to radiology, pathology, physiotherapy and podiatry, as well as 24-hour medical coverage, are also offered.

To support patients before, during and after surgery, a digital app will be offered. Developed in partnership with US-based Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company, the tool is designed to improve patient engagement and recovery through structured education and real-time guidance.
The Eastwood Research Institute, a research and education division, will also operate — to support clinical research and provide educational opportunities for health professionals, students and community referrers. Patient and referrer education events and observation opportunities in theatre will be among the activities included.
BESIX Watpac led the hospital’s delivery, its General Manager for South Australia and Victoria, Al Crosby, saying that the project was delivered in strong collaboration with Barwon Investment Partners and Fortius Hospitals.
