Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital's Northeast Building underway
Construction is underway on the new two-storey Northeast Building, the first building to be delivered on the $558 million NSW, Victorian and Australian Government-funded Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital project — one of the largest regional health projects currently underway in NSW and Victoria. The Northeast Building is due to be completed in 2026, Albury-based building contractor Hansen Yuncken having been appointed to deliver the early works in June.
A range of health services currently located in, and adjacent to, the existing Allied Health Building will be housed by the purpose-built Northeast Building, which marks the first step to enable construction of the new seven-storey Clinical Services Building. To ensure direct access to key areas, including wards, main entry and medical imaging, a link bridge will connect the Northeast Building to the existing hospital — it being designed with opportunities for future expansion.
“The green light for the Northeast Building is an important step in the transformative $558 million Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital Project, focused on delivering fit-for-purpose health infrastructure that enables us to elevate capacity and capability to deliver care closer to home,” said Bill Appleby, Albury Wodonga Health Chief Executive Officer.
“This first stage will allow us to relocate essential services and prepare the site for major construction commencing in mid-2026 and delivered by late 2028. Construction is being staged to minimise disruption to our staff, visitors, and the community.” All Albury Hospital services will continue to operate during the construction.
