National Health Response Update to Hepatitis A

With 13 cases of Hepatitis A already recorded in Australia, the Department of Health is coordinating a national health response.


Of the 13 cases (as at 11am, 19 February), three are in Victoria, four in New South Wales, one in Western Australia and five in Queensland. They are all liked to consumption of Nanna's brand frozein mixed berries, which have been recalled by parent company Patties.


Authorities are reporting there have been no reported cases of Hepatitis A transmission through the Australian blood supply.

The OzFoodNet, the Communicable Diseases Network of Australia, the National Food Safety Network the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee, the National Blood Authority and the Australian Red Cross Blood Service (ARCBS) continue to meet and investigate.
