New Zealand is calling on Australian health professionals to relocate and help fill healthcare jobs.
Due to the ageing population, and one-third of New Zealand doctors in general practice retiring in the next decade, there are a number of jobs in demand.
Nigel Bickle from New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) said there are exciting professional development opportunities for Australian workers who want to make the move to New Zealand and for Kiwi expats to make the return journey home.
“Our economy is thriving and some of our companies are growing at a very fast rate. They need skilled and experienced employees to continue building on successes to date,” says Mr Bickle.
As part of this effort to attract Aussies to the land of the long white cloud, the Government is holding the first ever official New Zealand job fair in Sydney on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November at Sydney Town Hall.
The Sydney New Zealand Job Expo, which is being run by MBIE in conjunction with WorkingIn, will host more than 35 Kiwi companies. Some of New Zealand’s leading employers, including the Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB), will be holding walk-in interviews and make on-the-spot job offers to suitable candidates.
“Most Australian permanent residents can live and work in New Zealand without a visa. We offer great opportunities, better job security, with a lower cost of living and shorter commutes to work,” says Mr Bickle.
Event organiser Scott Mathieson concluded, “The purpose of the New Zealand Job Expo is to help New Zealand businesses attract the best talent to fill roles. There are various fast growing companies that need talented and skilled employees to continue to grow.
The New Zealand Job Expo will be held in Sydney on 29-30 November at Sydney Town Hall. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit: http://www.workingin-events.com/
