Debetrek: Flat batteries – An ongoing headache for mobile computer users

Is Hot Swap Lithium The Answer?
With the increasing popularity of mobile carts as the weapon on choice for point of care data entry, the major problem facing users is continuous power. We have graduated from the SLA battery which is in essence a 12v car battery taking approximately 6 hours to recharge to the now in vogue lithium models which reduce charging to 2-3 hours depending on battery composition.

AWe are moving forward although the system only works if the carts are docked and charged which also assumes they are not required for the next shift. As we see a trend moving from notebooks to larger LCD screens the demand for more continuous power looms larger and larger.
2015 sees the release of the first lithium swappable systems available in Australia.
Cutting edge technology
Developed by Scott Clarke in Michigan using US military grade manufacturing technology Australia now has a 230v mobile swappable battery system. This system is exclusively available through Debetrek ph 1300 141 142. Debetrek incidentally was the largest distributor and installer of Ergotron product in Australia in 2014.
Apart from the obvious advantage of continuous use, the hot swap has several other pluses
Retro fit – One of the great benefits is that these systems can be fitted to existing non powered carts thus upgrading the fleet saving the cost of replacing the cart.
Reduced Cost – adding the cost of a swappable battery system to existing or new unpowered carts is the cheapest way to get lithium technology onto your favourite cart.
It must be noted that the system works best with a small fleet of 4 or more carts as a base charging station is the most space efficient way of ensuring charged batteries are always available.
Safety – Using a lithium phosphate blend the Scott Clarke battery system from Debetrek is one of the safest lithium batteries around – so safe that it can be air freighted (which really helps with lead times and backup) the batteries can withstand the day to day knocks that are part and parcel of a busy environment and can withstand drops of several metres before any performance is affected .
Warranty – The reliability of these batteries is second to none and a manufacturers warranty of 3000 cycles comes as standard. This equates to 4 years .
Maintenance and service – As the power pack is a self-contained unit its super easy to change over the inverter power pack (remove 4 security screws ) and exchanging a battery at any time is a one click operation.
