This week ( 23 - 27  March) is  Wound Awareness Week, raising public awareness of the epidemic of hard-to-heal wounds, which are a significant burden on the health care system.
The theme of Wound Awareness Week 2015 is 'Got A Wound? Get A Wound Expert'.
This year the Australian Wound Management Association (AWMA) is collaborating with the Wound CRC to combine resources and networks to reach more stakeholders
National President of AWMA, Margo Asimus, explains,“over 300,000 Australians suffer from chronic wounds at any time and wounds constitute 70 per cent  of community nurses’ workload.
“We believe that by giving patients the right information, they can make positive actions. “This Wound Awareness Week offers a unique opportunity for us to unite and help heal wounds together.
“We are directing them to a new page on the website – woundexperts.com.au -  that lists every Wound Expert in the state”
To find out about local events by visiting the website http://www.awma.com.au/state/state.php
