Gold Coast Health partners with Foxo for unified comms

Gold Coast Health and Foxo have formed a strategic partnership with an aim to enhance patient care through the co-design of advanced, secure and unified communications for improved patient journey and emergency department (ED) avoidance.

The partnership leverages both organisations’ strengths in digital health transformation and health ecosystem connectivity by introducing novel workflows and improved healthcare service delivery with access across multiple departments.

Patient access and ED avoidance

The partnership initially focused on reducing representations to Gold Coast Health EDs through the introduction of the Hospital’s General Medicine — Rapid Access Services (G-RAS).

Through a simple take-home QR code, known chronic patients can engage the service through secure two-way messaging, file sharing, and voice or video calls directly with roles within the department. The initiative aims to intervene swiftly before conditions worsen, averting ED visits and hospitalisations by providing an efficient alternative for ongoing patient management.

Unified comms

At the heart of this partnership is unified communications — a framework that is said to enable seamless and secure interaction among healthcare professionals and support staff, through to their patients, referrers and external providers, within the one unified ecosystem. Foxo’s platform forms a connection layer, bridging patient engagements with GCH’s electronic medical record and Microsoft Teams. Additionally, the workflows are proven to significantly reduce response times and ensure vital patient information is always accessible, setting a new benchmark for easy access connected healthcare.

Luke Fletcher, CEO and Co-founder, Foxo, said the collaboration is not just about technology, it’s about reshaping the future of patient care, making it more accessible and effective for everyone involved.

“Our work with Foxo highlights our ongoing dedication to innovation, improving patient outcomes and ongoing operational excellence. Through the integration of Foxo’s comprehensive communication platform, our health service stands at the forefront of modern healthcare delivery and accessibility. Our focus on improved patient access and reducing emergency department visits underscores our commitment to elevating healthcare outcomes,” said Sandip Kumar, Executive Director, Strategy, Transformation and Major Capital, Gold Coast Health.
