Nursing and Midwifery Board waives renewal late fee until 15 June
To allow more time to complete renewal in the new Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) portal, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia has waived renewal late fees until 15 June. Nurses and midwives remain registered and can continue to work until 30 June.
Ahpra said more than one-third of the nurse and midwife workforce (more than 200,000) have successfully renewed their registration, noting that some practitioners are needing more support — and time — to set up their Ahpra portal and renew.
“The additional two weeks gives nurses and midwives that extra time without worrying about a late fee,” Ahpra said, having also extended the customer service team hours, which are now 8 am to 8 pm AEST — to better support, it said, this 24/7 workforce.
Ahpra encourages practitioners to visit here — the online Ahpra portal help centre, for step-by-step guides, videos and troubleshooting tips for setting up their portal.
