90 years of care: six nurses share milestone

Six nurses from Whiddon’s Easton Park site have each celebrated 15 years of service with the provider.

The six women started with Whiddon on the same day in 2009, and 15 years on have celebrated their combined 90 years of service.

Elfreda Desouza, Princess Mansaray, Patricia Quinn, Maribeth Santiago, Elvira Tuazon and Rosemary Wallace all first joined Whiddon as Assistants in Nursing (AINs). While initially brought together by a collective induction date, all quickly developed a close connection, bonding over their shared passion for rich and rewarding care. For the women, a love of helping people is largely what drew them towards a career in the aged care sector.

“For most organisations, celebrating one employee’s 15 years of service is a significant milestone. To have six amazing team members celebrate 15 years of service each, or a collective 90 years, is an absolute privilege. The collective achievement of these wonderful team members speaks volumes to their commitment to our elders and our beautiful community alike,” said Chris Mamarelis, CEO at Whiddon.

“The service achievement of these amazing team members, not only highlights their passion and commitment to aged care, but it also ultimately means better outcomes for our residents, through consistent quality care and long-lasting relationships.”

Whiddon operates 23 residential aged care homes across NSW and South East Queensland.
