Medicine Shortages Information Initiative launched
Tuesday, 27 May, 2014
The Medicine Shortages Information Initiative has been launched by Senator Fiona Nash, Assistant Minister for Health, to provide information about prescription medicine shortages in Australia.
The information is provided to assist health professionals and consumers when there is a temporary or permanent disruption (discontinuation) to the supply of a medicine in Australia.
The medicine shortages information website is mostly based on information provided voluntarily to the TGA by sponsors. The information provided refers to the supply of prescription medicines to the overall Australian market, however stock of a particular medicine may still be available at some pharmacies to fill prescriptions.
