Healthcare without bounds: diagnostic innovations and seamless care

Within the healthcare system, there seems to be barriers to providing patients with personalised, effective care. These create burdens for both patients and care providers and add costs without adding value.

Diagnostics has always been central to care delivery. However, the challenge to not only diagnose better and faster, but also predict and prevent disease across the spectrum of care because of disparate data sources, complex technology, and increased patient expectations all impact the ability to make strides towards delivering value-based care.

We at Philips, see opportunities to improve healthcare system performance, particularly within imaging, and with our equally patient-centric approach, we partner with organisations that drive the critical significance of human factors in healthcare. This guides our vision of bringing innovative patient-centred imaging solutions, pushing us to create more seamless care experiences for patients and providers.

We are driven to cut through complexity to improve productivity and organise care seamlessly around people — both patients and care providers. To do this, we prioritise four areas of opportunity:

  1. Simplifying data and insight gathering, while increasing security, with streamlined diagnoses and better informed care and treatment pathways;
  2. Driving improved diagnosis, treatment and outcomes by facilitating appropriate diagnostics, and allowing you to see more, sooner and less invasively;
  3. Helping to reduce costs through improved operations and scheduling workflows that can mitigate discrepancies in imaging exam times; and
  4. Improving the care experience for patients and providers with greater comfort and better service for patients, and technology advancements to reduce staff burnout.

Through research conducted, we know patient stress can impact imaging outcomes. By better understanding patient needs, we can support our customers in achieving the Quadruple Aim and addressing the priorities of reducing cost, achieving a timely and confident diagnosis, and improving the patient and staff experience.

Our integrated portfolio of products and solutions, coupled with our hands-on, consultative approach and committed service, are helping our many hospital systems make strides in all of these areas today.

There are numerous examples that make great progress across the entire care process. Like a hospital system that uses technology to provide care to patients with chronic conditions in the comfort of their own homes, while reducing costs and utilisation. Or a leading healthcare system using predictive care management tools for ICU patients to reduce hospital stays and readmissions, while addressing the critical care shortage and saving millions in costs. And a cardiovascular centre treating high-risk cases with less invasive, image-guided technologies that can reduce the length of stay and improve their overall quality of life.

Innovation. Transformation. Collaboration. That’s what inspires us and the organisations we partner with to forge new paths in care delivery. A relentless pursuit to make life better is what drives us.
